Leigh Brown-Holmes (Empathy & Inclusion)

A Letter From Leigh:

The Ghandi quote, "Be the change you'd like to see in the world" is a quote that not only resonates deeply with me, but one that has guided my practice and professionalism for as long as I can remember. I have always had the heart for teaching and knew that message of change would unfold through my love of learning, growing, and supporting youth.

I have been very fortunate in my life to get paid for work that fills my soul, and I feel very thankful to have the opportunity to work with and support our amazing scholars as they rise into their independence and adulthood.

Today, I am not only am a teacher, I am an active advocate of social change, especially around supporting growth in how we teach and support our scholars with disabilities. Simply put...we all deserve a right to an equal education that meets us where we are. We all deserve an opportunity for employment that doesn't pay below minimum wage and matches our skillsets. We all deserve to be treated with respect and dignity regardless of our abilities. My hope for our community is to continue to challenge the stereotypes and boxes put on people with disabilities and instead promote inclusion and acceptance of all ability levels.

Be that change my friends! Spread acceptance! Spread love! Spread awareness!

with joe traeger
A podcast that discusses the ideal characteristics that we all are inspired by and respect. There are people all around us that live life in a way that shows us they have truly captured something special in their character. How did they capture it? We will investigate how we all can capture valuable fundamentals of life by using the umbrellas of c.a.p.t.u.r.e-it to have these conversations under. The umbrellas of c.a.p.t.u.r.e-it represent courage, attitude, perspective, truth, uniqueness, recognition, and empathy. The "it" of c.a.p.t.u.r.e-it is a reminder that we should always be working "in-time" to continuously grow, build, and reinforce the traits we want for ourselves while developing into the person we are proud to be.
